A Gentle Shift

I have been working to do a lot of spring cleaning and wardrobe purging, however in my recovery from recent exhausting week I found myself shopping to self soothe. In the course of this I found myself gravitating to floral print suit pants, several pairs of formal shoes and one blazer. It seems that after some shifts in life, a new job, new commute and lots of new dating I am somewhat rebelling against the casualness that seems to saturate my existence these days.

It seems crisp dark denim, Jack Purcells or New Balance and some sort of chambray or oxford shirt (untucked) is the go to uniform of the new “gentleman” who can bullshit their way through whiskey, food and some degree of midcentury modern interiors… To me it feels too casual, to easily mimicked and lacks a lot of effort. It makes me actually wonder if I have gotten lazy and risk averse from the days when I wore a tie and some sort of intentional outfit to work every day. This is a moment where I feel I have to reimagine what my criteria and choice are going to be.
